ITV true-crime drama with Anna Maxwell Martin and Shaun Evans shares first-look trailer
The first trailer for ITV true crime drama Until I Kill You has been released.
The four-part series is based on the true story of Delia Balmer (Anna Maxwell Martin) and her relationship with serial killer John Sweeney (Shaun Evans) and follows her traumatic journey as she tries to bring him to justice.
The trailer follows Balmer as she meets John, though things start to take a dark turn as she witnesses his increasingly disturbing behaviour.

Balmer goes to the police after Sweeney confesses to killing his former girlfriend but grows frustrated by the justice system, while she also tells the court of “the night he killed me” in a near-fatal attack.
“Why is the world allowed to treat people like this?” she later asks.
The drama, which is based on Balmer’s book Living with a Serial Killer, follows Balmer after crossing paths with “free-spirit” Sweeney in 1991 and appearing to have found “the connection she has been searching for”.

However, she starts to see his darker side, “culminating in a series of violent attacks on Delia, during which he tells her he killed his former girlfriend and disposed of her body in an Amsterdam canal”.
After being arrested, however, Sweeney is granted bail “due to a catastrophic failure by the court to realise how dangerous he is” and “immediately pursues Delia and subjects her to a horrific, near-fatal attack”.
Balmer survives, though Sweeney manages to evade the police and disappears, while Balmer tries to rebuild her life.
“But Sweeney returns seven years later and is arrested for the murder of another girlfriend in North London,” the synopsis adds.

“Delia’s fragile recovery is shattered all over again as she has to face Sweeney in open court, her testimony vital to the prosecution case against him.
“This is the story of one woman’s astonishing will to survive through physical and emotional torment, despite the failings of the institutions which were meant to protect her.”
