NTAs 2024: ITV viewers all say same thing minutes into show
Joel Dommett took centre stage as the host of this year's star-studded National Television Awards. The crème de la crème of the TV world gathered in anticipation, with celebrities eager to see if they would be taking home a coveted award.
Yet, ITV viewers had a bone to pick just minutes into the ceremony. Social media was full of critiques of the opening act, as Joel launched into song, reports the Express. One viewer tweeted: "Most painful intro in some time! #NTAs." Another shared their thoughts: "That was horrendous Joel."
"The singing intro thing only really works when it's someone that can actually sing," another chimed in. "What the actual f*** is this?" questioned a baffled fan, while another remarked: "Oh how corny."

Joel's musical extravaganza included nods to many nominated celebs and shows, featuring appearances from Davina McCall, Bradley Walsh, and Ant and Dec. At one point, Strictly's Anton Du Beke hit the stage with Joel for a jazz number.
Despite the glitz, Joel didn't shy away from poking fun at himself, quipping: "So much talent to celebrate, me? I've not been nominated!"
Following his energetic performance, the awards proceeded, with Factual Entertainment up next. Among formidable contenders like Clarkson's Farm and Yorkshire Vet, it was Stacey Solomon's Sort Your Life Out that clinched the win.
She was visibly taken aback by the win as she hugged her eldest son beside her. Once on stage, the TV presenter admitted she had been practising her losing face, not anticipating a victory.
In her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude to the families who welcomed her into their homes and hearts for the show as she accepted the award. During the yearly event, viewers will also witness celebrities receiving awards in categories such as Drama Performance, Serial Drama, Reality Competition and Comedy.
