ITV viewers slam Mel B for 'wrong child' comment as Parents Evening guests left stunned

Parents Evening fans were left bewildered as guest and ex-Spice Girl Mel B claimed she brought the "wrong child" with her.

Romesh Ranganathan's Parents Evening sees celebrities bet how many answers their grown-up children can correctly provide on a variety of topics from boyband members' names to anagrams of cheeses.

This evening, Romesh welcomed talkshow host Jonathan Ross and his daughter Honey, Richard Madeley and his daughter Chloe and Mel B and her daughter Phoenix.

While Jonathan and Richard were happy to put their faith into their daughters' hands, Mel B was far more reluctant and kept pulling out of the race when it came to betting on Phoenix.

She did think that Phoenix could name two of the boybands listed on the board but when it came to betting any higher, the singer decided to pull out.

Mel B then raised her hand and said: "I think I've brought the wrong child with me! I've got two other kids -"

The live audience could be heard gasping as Phoenix laughed and covered her face with her hand.

The camera then turned to Jonathan Ross and his daughter Honey with him stating: "Wow!"

Mel B continued: "I thought I'd bring the eldest one, because she's well travelled and she's been around the Spice Girls a lot."

Phoenix then piped in saying: "I was the first Spice baby! Doesn't count for much does it?"

Fans at home wasn't happy with how Mel B was treating her daughter either, taking to X, formerly Twitter, to express their views.

Someone said: "Mel really doesn’t like her daughter, does she?", with a second writing: "Phoenix didn't look too thrilled about Mel B folding."

Another agreed: "Mel is awful to her daughter it's not funny...she can't share the limelight."

A fellow fan continued: "Chloe and Honey are geniuses! I'll bet Phoenix is smart too if Mel 's willing to give her a chance."

Another viewer then brought Richard Madeley into the matter: "Richard and Mel compete to be worst parent."

Romesh Ranganathan's Parents Evening continues every Saturday on ITV and ITVX.
