ITV's The Chase introduces massive twist as Bradley Walsh shares announcement

The Chase is set for a major revamp as it celebrates its 15th anniversary next week with a release of an extraordinary episode. In an unexpected twist, the renowned quiz show will feature four participants, each bearing the same names as the chasers. The episode will dramatically up the stakes by having them face not just one but two quiz masters.

A fresh teaser for Monday's (September 2) episode reveals Bradley Walsh announcing: "These four people have never met before but by working together as a team they have the chance to win thousands of pounds! Today, two things are standing in their way. Two Chasers. The Chase double trouble is on."

Contestants Darragh, Jenny, Anne and Paul appear in the clip, eager to discover which knowledge gurus they'll compete against. After the promo aired on The Chases official Instagram page on Friday (August 30), excitement erupted among fans, sparking a flurry of comments.

One fan wrote: "Love how the contestants names are Chaser names...well played everyone.", reports the Mirror. Another chimed in, speculating: "Can't wait to watch, the two chasers must be Shaun and Mark, the first two chasers."

A third viewer expressed excitement, saying: "Can't wait for this then." Echoing the sentiment, a fourth viewer speculated on social media: "I bet Mark and Shaun are the Chasers."

Loyal followers of the show will be familiar with the team of Chasers which includes Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis. Both Mark and Shaun have been part of the chase since the first series, whereas Anne joined in the second, Paul came aboard in the fourth, Jenny in the ninth, and Darragh joined the ranks in series 13.

Traditionally, just one Chaser takes on the role in each episode except for special occasions, but to mark the 15th anniversary, the bosses have decided to shake things up and have two Chasers feature in a single episode for the first time.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 5pm
