Many I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here viewers were left 'heartbroken' on Monday night, as they saw Barry McGuigan break down in tears in camp over the death of his daughter.

After proving to be very entertaining in the launch show of the ITV show's new series a night earlier, Barry, rated as I'm A Celebrity's dark horse for this year, got everyone talking for a much more emotional reason in episode two, when he tearfully opened up about his daughter's death. Former world champion Barry was asked by co-star Dean McCullough if he went to church, to which he replied: "I used to go to church a lot but after my daughter… you know, not so much."

Detailing the tragic circumstances behind his only daughter' Danika's passing, after she beat leukaemia at the age of 11, Barry explained to the I'm A Celebrity camp: "She had leukaemia, when I was making the boxing movie with Daniel Day Lewis, three weeks from the end I had to leave because she’d been diagnosed with leukaemia. They thought she wasn’t going to get better but she fought back and she won it. She had two years of chemo.”

Revealing how things took a tragic turn 22 years later, Barry, choking back tears, told Jane Moore: "She pains in her tummy but she put it off and went to the doctor, called us all in. Stage 4 bowel cancer, five weeks, five weeks she died."

As Barry's campmates like Danny Jones and Coleen Rooney cried in response to what Barry was telling them, I'm A Celebrity viewers had similar reactions, with one taking to X to write: "Heartbreaking watching Barry McGuigan break down about losing his daughter - got me sobbing - it doesn’t get any easier" as another posted: "Barry McGuigan has broken me. What a lovely man."
