ITV's Loose Women star forced to apologise after swear-fuelled rant live on-air

Loose Women newcomer Mariella Frostrup was so caught up in a fiery on-air rant that she seemed to forget the cameras were still rolling - as she dropped the P-bomb for all to hear.

The British-Norwegian journalist had been busy discussing the prospect of sending a colleague a Valentines Card with her panel members Brenda Edwards, Myleene Klass and host Christine Lampard, when she accidentally swore.

Getting her point across, Mariella expressed that Valentines Day really wasn't a holiday that she enjoyed celebrating, with the TV star not wanting to surcombe to commercial pressures.

Speaking to Christine, Mariella began to rant: "I just feel like it's taken something that was quite a sweet thing in the 17th century and commercialised it within an inch of its life, like Christmas, like almost everything that I can possibly think of."

She added: "It's just sad, you know I feel like people feel like they are under attack from the relentlessness of the commercial world."

Moving on to her next point Mariella blurted out: "I would be really p***ed off," as Mariella was stopped in her tracks by the loud shrieks from the audience and her co-stars.

Realising she'd already said to much, she immediately followed up with: "I am so sorry if I offended anyone with the P-word."

The host told her: "I'm glad you said it," as Mariella added: "I hope I haven't shocked the nation." Christine, who is the wife of football legend Frank Lampard chirped back: "They were shocked."

Chiming in to get her final point across and in a desperate bid to move on from the red faced moment, Mariella said: "If someone gave my husband that card I would be pretty annoyed."

The audience and her co-stars appeared to be pretty forgiving of her honest mistake as they reassuringly chuckled along.

Loose Women airs on ITV1, weekdays from 12:30pm.
