ITV's Lorraine thrown into 'chaos' as presenter falls ill at last minute

Lorraine Kelly’s morning show, Lorraine, had a last-minute change after its regular host pulled out due to illness.

The ever-present Lorraine, 58, usually appears on ITV after Good Morning Britain each day but today was different.

Just hours before her slot was about to go live on air, ITV producers were frantically looking round for a replacement. Step forward Kate Garraway, who was on call, so to speak, for such an occasion.

Piers Morgan, 52, did address the issue during GMB, saying: ‘We don’t know how sick she is. I hope she’s okay.’

But sadly she wasn’t well enough to present her show, so Kate, 50, had to jump out of bed and race down to the studio.

‘Yeah, she’s feeling a bit poorly but she’ll be alright. We’re going to give progress updates throughout the show on her,’ Kate revealed once she’d introduced the show.

The stand-in host also fessed up to Piers ans co-host Susanna Reid, 47, that she’d no idea what was going on. ‘I was in bed about 20 minutes ago. I have absolutely no idea what’s in the show but shall we find out together?’

Kate hadn’t been prepped as to what was going on on today’s show, so all came as a bit of a surprise. She also revealed that she was fast asleep when telly bosses called her up to ask he to fill in.

‘It looks quite good. I’m going to stay and do it!’ she joked.

After Piers joked about how she should present the show in a Scottish accent, he over-exaggerated somewhat by claiming everything was in ‘complete chaos’.

‘We have no idea what is happening – it’s a bit like a normal day on Good Morning Britain really!’ he quipped.
