Brighton and Hove Albion have secured a deal to take Chelsea forward Izzy Brown on loan for the duration of their debut season in the Premier League.

Brown, who signed a new four-year deal at Stamford Bridge before sealing a switch to the south coast, spent last season out on loan in the Championship, initially with Rotherham United, before moving to Huddersfield Town in January.

There he started in The Terriers' play-off final win against Reading at Wembley, and will now get the opportunity to play in the English top-flight for another promoted team in Brighton.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: "The natural progression for Izzy, having enjoyed such a successful season in the Championship last season, was to step up to the Premier League - and we are delighted he will be doing that with us, here at Brighton.

"He is a player with great potential and will bring a different dimension to our attacking options for the season ahead, alongside our existing strikers."

The 20-year old scored seven league goals last season and will be hoping that he can force his way into Chelsea manager Antonio Conte's long-term plans.

Brown joins team-mates Tammy Abraham (Swansea City), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Crystal Palace) and Kurt Zouma (Stoke City) in moving from Chelsea to fellow Premier League clubs on loan.

Chris Hughton's team could hardly have a more difficult start to life in the top-flight, as they host Manchester City at The Amex Stadium on Saturday August 12.
