Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that her mum once bizarrely delivered some tragic news when she was cheerleading.
Appearing on last night's (September 12) The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lawrence was talking about growing up on a farm and about one horse she had in particular called Bones.
"Growing up on a farm, you have ups and downs, there's good things and very sad things," she recalled.
"I was at a cheerleading competition and my mum in the audience was mouthing something and I didn't understand what she was saying. I was like, 'What?' and she was like, 'Bones is dead, Bones died'."
Lawrence was on the show to promote her controversial new movie mother!, written and directed by Darren Aronofsky who she is currently dating.
She hopes that mother! will "traumatise" any Hunger Games fans who decide to watch it. "That's the whole point. I hope it does traumatise people into action," she explained of the movie's climate change subtext.
Aronofsky also addressed the criticism of the movie's age gap between Lawrence's character and Javier Bardem, who plays her husband.
"I know there's a big critique about Hollywood casting old movie stars with these young ingenues, but this film's about that, so we address it face-on, it's not really taking advantage of that," he told Digital Spy.
mother! is in cinemas on September 15.
