The actor, 84, has been a long time fan of his home team, frequently attending games before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last time the three-times Oscar winner was seen publicly was in January 2020 during another Lakers game against the New York Knicks, again joined by his son.
The actor's last appearance on screen was in the 2010 movie How Do You Know and while he was supposed to star in the remake of Oscar-winning German film Toni Erdmann, but he pulled out of the project in 2018.
Since then, Nicholson has been keeping a private profile, telling The Sun in a 2013 interview that he is not motivated to "be out there anymore."
"The movie business is the greatest business but I only want to do films that move people, films about emotions and people," he said.
The three-time Oscar winner shot to fame in the 1970s appearing in classic films such as One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Easy Rider, and Chinatown, and was one of the most bankable stars of the 1980s and 1990s, famously playing Joker in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman.
As for his children, Ray recently had a role in Promising Young Woman opposite Carey Mulligan as well as starring in the Amazon Original TV show Panic.
Meanwhile, Lorraine, who starred in The Princess Diaries 2 and in Robin Williams' World's Greatest Dad as a teenager, seems to have left the business in 2016.
