Jack Wilshere made his West Ham debut as Manuel Pellegrini's side drew 2-2 with Preston North End in Saturday's pre-season friendly.

Wilshere started his first match for the Hammers since joining the east London club on a free after his Arsenal contract expired.

Fellow new arrivals Ryan Fredericks, Issa Doip and Andriy Yarmolenko all started alongside Wilshere, and it didn't take long for the Premier League side to get up and running.

West Ham took the lead seven minutes in through Marko Arnautovic, who coolly finished after Mark Noble's quick free-kick found the Austrian in behind the Preston defence.

The hosts equalised through a Tom Clarke header, but Arnautovic restored West Ham's lead on the stroke of half-time as he fired home into the corner of the net after holding up the ball well.

Wilshere departed at half-time, and West Ham needed a good save from Adrian to hold onto their lead as the goalkeeper saved well 11 minutes after the restart.

Ryan Fredericks - who joined West Ham from Fulham this summer - looked lively for his new club, and won a penalty just past the hour-mark, but Mark Noble uncharacteristically missed from the spot.

And West Ham were made to rue that miss as Billy Bodin struck with 14 minutes left on the clock to earn Preston a draw.
