Jackass Star Jailed For SeaWorld Protest

Steve-O, the star of TV show Jackass, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for climbing a crane in Hollywood to protest against SeaWorld.

Steve-O, whose legal name is Stephen Glover, pleaded no contest to misdemeanour charges of trespassing and illegal use of fireworks.

He was also sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to reimburse the city nearly $14,000 (£9,000) for its emergency response to the 9 August stunt.

The 41-year-old climbed up at least 100ft on a crane overlooking Hollywood's famed Sunset Boulevard to protest against the aquatic theme park.

Once near the top, he inflated a large killer whale balloon emblazoned with the words "SeaWorld Sucks" and lit fireworks.

Glover, known for his outlandish stunts in the Jackass TV show and film series, later climbed down and was taken into custody.

The performer was cited last year for another protest against the park.

Glover said his demonstrations are in response to controversy over the 2013 documentary Blackfish, which criticised SeaWorld's treatment of killer whales.
