Jackson Officers Free Trapped Deer as Heavy Floods Hit State Capital

Officers in Jackson, Mississippi, worked together on February 17 to free a deer trapped in a fence as floods hit the city.

While on patrol Police Detective Jonathan Ridgley and his colleagues noticed two deer trapped in a fence and decided to free them as water levels were anticipated to rise further. This video shows the effort to release one of the deer.

Mississippi’s Governor Tate Reeves declared a state of emergency on Saturday, February 15, as the Pearl River was expected to rise to levels that had not been seen in at least 35 years.
