Jade Thirlwall has stirred up fans with a subtle jab at Simon Cowell in her latest single, 'It Girl'. The 32 year old released the visualiser for her new track last week and eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice a reference to her X Factor days.

Before being grouped into Little Mix and winning the show in 2011, Jade didn't make it past the audition stages in 2008 and 2010. The year Jade made it through - alongside Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson - Simon, 65, wasn't on the judging panel.

Fans were quick to spot that the last line in 'It Girl' is 'it's a no from me' - words regularly used by The X Factor judge. Commenting on the apparent dig, one fan wrote: "The 'It's a no from me' reference in the end is a masterpiece! " Another said: "omg is that Simon Cowell shade."

Someone replied: "I think it is shade to Simon Cowell because before Little Mix Jade auditioned 3 Times the first & second time she was rejected then the third time she was put in to Little Mix."

And a fourth added: "The 'It's a no from me' reference in the end is a masterpiece!" Little Mix, who went on hiatus in 2021, parted ways with Simon's record label Syco in 2018.

And in her debut solo single 'Angel of My Dreams', Jade seemed to take a savage swipe at her former boss. The song begins with the lyrics: "You only care about money, sellin’ my soul to a psycho, they say I’m so lucky. Better act like you’re lucky, honey."

In response to the perceived criticism, a representative for Simon Cowell told the Daily Mail: "The entire team who worked incredibly hard behind the scenes with Little Mix to help make the group a success would, I’m sure, always continue to wish them solo success."
