Jadon Sancho has been dropped from the England squad as his nightmare season at Manchester United continues.

Gareth Southgate admitted last month that Sancho did not deserve to make the squad following his difficult start to life in the Premier League since his £73million move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund.

And the winger, 21, has now been axed for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino.

Sancho has made just one United start since the last England camp and remains without a club goal or assist this season.

Kieran Trippier and Fikayo Tomori have also been dropped from the England squad for this month’s World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino.

Tammy Abraham keeps his place in the squad, while Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James are all back in. Jude Bellingham has been recalled.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been rewarded for his fine form with a call-up but there is no place in the squad for Emile Smith Rowe.

Southgate has again decided against a call-up for his United team-mate Mason Greenwood and Jesse Lingard has also been left out.

Southgate has made it clear that he will only promote young players who have performed exceptionally and Smith Rowe and Conor Gallagher, who is on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea, have remained with the Under-21s, despite some outstanding performances in the Premier League.
