Jake Paul is back in boxing action tonight as he fights former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.

Controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul made light work of his previous opponent hailing from the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), with former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion and ex-UFC fighter Ben Askren knocked out inside two minutes of the first round of their short-lived contest on a frankly bizarre night in Atlanta back in April.

That emphatic victory saw ‘The Problem Child’ improve his boxing record to 3-0, following similar destructions of ex-NBA player Nate Robinson and fellow YouTube personality AnEsonGib.

While not facing a professional boxer yet amid plenty of the usual war of words with the likes of Tommy Fury, Paul faces a clear step up against Woodley.

‘The Chosen One’ is a former UFC welterweight champion who successfully defended that title four times between 2016-19, beating the likes of Robbie Lawler, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, Demian Maia and Darren Till.

However, Woodley, now 39, was later dethroned by the dominant Kamaru Usman and also lost each of his next three UFC bouts against Gilbert Burns, Colby Covington and Vincente Luque.

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley rules

Tonight’s main event is an eight-rounder being fought at cruiserweight that, as it is fully sanctioned, will follow usual boxing rules.

This is in contrast to Jake Paul’s older brother Logan’s meeting with Floyd Mayweather earlier this summer, which was unsanctioned, so had no official winner, no judges at ringside and both fighters wearing lighter gloves.

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley purse

Paul is reported to be guaranteed a purse of at least $1million for tonight’s fight, while Woodley is expected to bank a minimum of $500,000.

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley fight prediction

Woodley certainly offers Paul’s sternest test in the ring to date and is unquestionably a better striker than Askren, boasting proper power in that right hand when he lands it.

But he’s still not a boxer or puncher by trade and, despite his vastly superior fighting resume, will enter Sunday’s contest as the underdog against a bigger opponent 15 years his junior who undeniably packs a punch and has looked impressive so far despite the calibre of his opponents.

It is also worth noting that this fight is taking place at 190lbs - 20lbs heavier than the smaller Woodley normally fights in the UFC.

We think he’ll give Paul comfortably his toughest examination so far, but come up short, potentially on points.

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley weigh-in

The Paul vs Woodley weigh-ins took place on Saturday, with a brawl nearly sparked as tempers flared and Woodley tried and failed to re-enact Paul’s famous “gotcha hat” moment with Mayweather.

Paul tipped the scales at 190lbs, with Woodley half-a-pound lighter at 189.5lbs.
