Jake Wood's wife reacts to his 'Weird Crush' hat-trick following Piers Morgan row

Yesterday, Heat magazine announced that EastEnders’ star Jake Wood had been voted the UK’s weirdest crush by their readers for the third year running.

The actor plays Lothario Max Branning in the BBC soap opera, and viewers have always been incredibly open with how much they fancy the unconventional heartthrob.

Jake was very proud of his hat-trick.

Jake was chuffed to bits with the accolade, sharing a photo of himself with all three awards on Twitter alongside the caption: “Happy Valentines to all my followers from your very own 3x @heatworld Weird Crush winner 2015, 2016 & 2017 “.

For some reason – other than the fact that he is a professional Twitter troll – Piers Morgan felt the need to get involved, retweeting Jake and adding: “The fact you’ve been voted weirdest man in Britain 3 times should be a cause for concern not celebration, Mr Wood.”

Jake quipped back: “For once my wife @alisonrwood agrees with you @piersmorgan”.

And if you’re wondering how Jake’s lucky wife, Alison, feels about her husband being the UK’s weirdest crush, she shared her own thoughts over on her Twitter page.

Clearly exasperated at being dragged into the whole mess with Piers, on Valentine’s Day no less, Alison shared: “Sandwiched between @heatworld weirdest crush & @piersmorgan on my twitter feed…. What sort of hellish Valentine’s is this? #weirdvalentine”.

Alison didn’t seem too impressed.

#WeirdValentine indeed.

Piers himself was probably feeling a little bit bitter after only coming 25th in Heat’s poll, with the likes of James Cosmo, Shrimpy from EastEnders and even Star Wars’ K2SO beating him in the vote.

Maybe next year, eh Piers?
