James Argent hits back at fat-shaming trolls as he works out at boxing gym

James Argent told Instagram followers that he has embarked on a new fitness regime after being trolled over his weight.

The reality star shared a photo of enrolment forms for his local boxing gym on his Instagram Stories, before posting a brief video from inside the centre, which he described as his “new home”.

He then re-shared a clip of himself on a treadmill, originally posted by trainer Anthony Yarde, and later posed for a photo in the boxing ring alongside his PT and boxer Tunde Ajayi.

“I’ve been warned I’m on ‘Death Row’ because of my weight gain!” he wrote in the caption, alluding to weight loss expert Steve Miller’s recent claim that the star is “on death row” and at risk of “heart attack, stroke and even cancer due to his size”.

“Thanks to my old friends @mranthonyyarde @tundeajayi9 today my life changes & I’m back in the boxing gym! @peacockboxingclub is my new home! #healthylifestyle #hardwork #dedication.”

Fans responded with a series of encouraging comments, with many wishing Argent “good luck” in his endeavours.

“Go on Arg you can do it you’ve lost it before wishing you all the best on your journey,” one follower wrote.

“Well done Arg. Good luck! You can do it,” another said.

“You can do it best of luck go smash it,” a third comment read.

Arg’s positive post comes after the TOWIE star revealed that he has been targeted by a fat-shaming troll on Twitter, who has “been bullying [him] constantly” about his size.

In a now-deleted tweet which featured an image of the Twitter user, the 31-year-old wrote: “This woman has been bullying me constantly about my weight & attacking me on social media.”

The singer said he was “not going to stoop to her level” and asked her to “just please #LeaveMeAlone”.

Earlier this year, Argent told The Sun that he is “desperate” to embrace a more healthy lifestyle after being inspired by girlfriend Gemma Collinsweight loss.

“In regards to my body, I need to work on that. I need to get back in the gym and boxing again,” he told the paper.

“I’m desperate to get back on track. I need to work on my fitness, that is my number one New Year’s resolution – but I find it so difficult.”
