James Argent chokes up on 'Loose Women' as his mother addresses the impact of his drug addiction

James “Arg” Argent was brought to tears on Loose Women on Monday as his mother Patricia discussed the impact of his drug addiction.

The Towie star has previously opened up about battling a debilitating cocaine addiction that led to two near-fatal overdoses.

"You bring children into the world you want to love and look after them. It was totally out of my hands, I couldn't save him," Patricia said.

Patricia said she had sought counselling to cope with the trauma and described the situation as "the scariest thing I ever had to go through".

Argent was moved to tears after hearing his mother speak as he addressed the knock-on effect his drugs struggle had on those around him.

"This is the first time where I got a bit choked up,” he said.

“It's one thing putting myself through it and ruining and affecting my own life but another thing is the effect on your family and friends.

"When I'm in active addiction it's a bit of a blur to me, I kind of escape my feelings and emotions. In terms of my mum, my dad, my sister, my friends and family, they had to deal with it day-to-day.”

Argent told the panellists how his mother had also found it difficult to talk to other people about her son due to fears stories would be sold on his struggles.

The reality star sought help with assistance from pal Mark Wright who booked him into a rehab facility in Thailand last December.

During his interview on the ITV lunchtime show, Argent vowed to stay clean and sober for his mother, to "make amends".

Earlier this year, he said his drug addiction was a symptom of an eating disorder as he struggled with jokes made about his weight.
