James Arthur is removing his tattoos in a bid to break Hollywood

Following in the footsteps of Harry Styles, X Factor star James Arthur has revealed he’s keen to take on a new career challenge – after confessing that he would like to be an actor.

The singer, who won the ninth series of the ITV talent show in 2012, made a triumphant return to the charts with his new song, Say You Won’t Let Go, but he might be letting go of his music, as he admits his sights are set on Tinseltown.

The 28-year-old told Daily Star Sunday he’s undergoing painful laser surgery to remove his tattoos, including an owl on his neck and a crown on his hand, in a bid to break Hollywood.

“I’ve already had nine sessions,” James revealed. “They take a while and cost a lot of money but it will be worth it. I really want to do acting and don’t want to be typecast because of my tattoos.”

James has only just released his comeback album, Back From The Edge, his first since his self-titled debut album in 2013.

The musician was dropped from Simon Cowell’s record label in 2014 after his career failed to succeed, but he recently re-signed to Syco following rave reviews for his re-launch with Columbia Records.

Last month, the popstar admitted he was overwhelmed by the positive reaction for his new material, writing on Instagram: “My mind is blown. I can’t believe I’m in this position.

“I’m so humbled and so grateful to be here. This would not have been possible without the people that played some part in getting this album made and out there.”

He added: “And of course none of this would be possible without the support of my incredible fans. Thanks for believing in me.”

Wishing you all the best on your ink-redible new venture James!
