James Arthur Seals His Comeback With Number One Album

Three cheers for X Factor comeback kid James Arthur, who’s brand new album has reached the top spot in the album charts.

Of course, it’s not just good news for James, as his fellow X Factor alumni Little Mix are also number one in the single charts - meaning it’s the first time since 2012 that X Factor acts have reigned supreme in both the charts.

Not all bad news for Simon Cowell then, is it?

James’ second album – called ‘Back From The Edge’ – debuted at the top wth combined sales of 41,000, and includes his smash hit single 'Say You Won’t Let Go’, which was top of the singles chart for three weeks before being toppled by Little Mix’s 'Shout Out To My Ex’.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, James said: “To have a body of work go to Number 1… it’s the ultimate sense of achievement. Thank you so much to everyone who has bought it.”

It comes after James rehabilitated his image and managed to get signed back to Simon Cowell’s record label, Syco, earlier this year.

A spokesman for Syco said: “We can confirm that James Arthur is now once again signed to Syco Music in the UK. We are delighted to welcome him back into the Syco fold.”

According to those in the know at The Sun, it was the X Factor judge himself who pushed to sign James back to the label after his latest single did so well.

A music industry source told The Sun: “Over the last few years James has kept in touch with Simon. Simon has always thought James is a real talent but as soon as he heard the record he made up his mind to re-sign him.

“James has grown up a lot and realises he made mistakes in the past. Simon knows this.”
