James Arthur has joined the growing list of celebrities who have attempted a DIY hair makeover while the UK is in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and he really went big, deciding to shave his whole head.

Though the X Factor 2012 winner dubbed his more-than-trim a "moment of sheer madness", his shaved hair will do a lot of good as he's donating £5,000 to the NHS as a result.

The 'Say You Won't Let Go' singer shocked his Instagram followers as he shared a photo of his newly buzzed scalp over the weekend. He revealed that the cut was something he's "never dared to do before".

"So I was trying to give my self a little trim up in a state of pure cabin fever, it wasn't going so well so In a moment of sheer madness I decided to do something I’ve never dared to do before and shave my head for the NHS and donate 5k", he wrote.

"Is that a bare blade? Yes. Do I have a melon head? Yes? Am I thankful that i don't have to leave the house for a while? YES!!! Am I so happy that hats were invented? Yes I am. Peace and love folks! Thank god for the NHS! THANK YOU SINCERELY TO ALL OF YOU! #nhs #stayhome #staysafe."

His followers were keen to praise his donation to the NHS, with X Factor 2018 runner-up Scarlett Lee commenting "Legend! Pure heart of gold you."
