James Blunt shares Divock Origi name change update as he says 'you have to put up with' it

James Blunt was relieved as he shared an update on changing his name to Divock Origi. The 50-year-old signer vowed to change his name to whatever the public decided if his Back to Bedlam album reached number one on its 20th anniversary.

The public eventually voted for Blunty McBluntface, a nod on the viral story from 2016 when it was voted the UK's polar research ship should be named Boaty McBoatface. However, another contender to win the poll emerged as former Liverpool FC striker, Origi.

The Belgian continues to hold a special place in the hearts of Reds supporters as he was involved in many memorable across his eight years in a Liverpool shirt. James has taken to Instagram to reveal that Back to Bedlam did not make it number one but thanked fans for their support of his campaign as it reached number seven in the charts.

The You're Beautiful singer referenced Origi in his thank you message as he shared a mocked up photo of what his driving licence would look like if he changed his name in honour to the Reds cult hero. James said: "A belated “Thank You” to everyone who helped get Back To Bedlam to No. 7 in the charts.

He added: "It’s an amazing result after 20 years. I’m glad I didn’t have to change my name - looks like you’ll all have to put up with “James Blunt” for another few decades."

Fans took to the comments in hysterics at the update. Shauna said: "Legend behaviour." Jemma posted: "Alexa, play all songs by Divock Origi!"
