James Bond's producers have offered an update on the search for the next 007, confirming more concrete details about the role's criteria.

Speculation is high over who will succeed Daniel Craig as the iconic spy since his departure three years ago, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

In a new interview with the Associated Press, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson didn't give any information on when exactly the announcement will be made, though did admit it will be a "big decision".

The pair then confirmed the next Bond will be a man, likely in his 30s, while whiteness is not a given. The actor will also be expected to commit for at least a decade.

Opening up about entering a new era, Wilson added: "Every time we cast a new actor, the films change. It’s the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction. Every one of these people who took on the role offered something new and different."

It comes after Amazon MGM Studios’ global head Jennifer Salke recently suggested they are "not concerned" with the gap between movies following the release of No Time to Die back in 2021.

"There are a lot of ideas [about potential actors] that have popped up that I thought are interesting," she told The Observer. "I think there are a lot of different ways we can go.

"We have a good and close relationship with Eon and [producers] Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G Wilson]. We are not looking to disrupt the way those wonderful films are made. For us, we are taking their lead."

She added: "The global audience will be patient. We don’t want too much time between films, but we are not concerned at this point."

Meanwhile, Craig recently admitted he doesn't "care" about who succeeds him in the role of Bond.
