James Corden: Restaurant drops ban on 'Gavin and Stacey star' for bullying staff after he apologises

Watch: James Corden 'forgiven' by owner of New York restaurant after being labelled 'abusive' customer

James Corden has had a ban by a New York restaurant dropped after he apologised 'profusely' for bullying staff.

The owner of popular French brasserie Balthazar announced on social media he had barred the Gavin And Stacey star from the SoHo eatery after he left a server 'shaken' by shouting at her about an incorrect dish delivered to his table.

But restauranteur Keith McNally has now shared on Instagram: "James Corden just called me and apologised profusely.

"Anyone magnanimous enough to apologise to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar. So Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven."

The Late Late Show host did not address his Balthazar ban on his chat show.

McNally first announced he was making the ban on the 44-year-old British actor and comedian after the latest of a number of incidents in which he had been rude to staff at the restaurant.

He wrote: "James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.

"I don't often 86 a customer, to today I 86'd Corden. It did not make me laugh.

McNally said that Corden had found a hair in his main course, saying: "Although this is diabolical, it happens very occasionally in all restaurants."

He said Corden was "extremely nasty" to the manager and then said: “Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I write any nasty reviews in yelp or anything like that."

The latest allegation took place on 9 October when Corden was dining with his wife Julia Carey.

He said: "Corden's wife ordered an egg yolk omelette with gruyere cheese and salad. A few minutes after they received the food, James called their server, M. K. and told her there was a little bit of egg white mixed with the egg yolk. M. K. informed the floor manager, G. The kitchen remade the dish but unfortunately sent it with home fries instead of salad.

"That's when James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server: 'You can't do your job! You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!'"

He claimed Corden was polite to the manager when he was given complimentary champagne to "smooth things out", but nasty to the server, who was "very shaken".
