JAMES Golding ticked off another milestone as he made his debut for the Republic of Ireland Under 19s.

The Oxford United centre back was a 77th-minute substitute against Iceland in Pinatar, Spain, coming on to help his country see out a 3-0 win.

It was the latest highlight of an impressive 2022 for the 17-year-old, who signed his first professional contract in March and made his full U’s debut the following month.

Golding will hope to be involved again when Ireland meet Iceland in another friendly on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former U’s right back George Baldock could make his Greece debut tonight.

The 29-year-old is eligible to represent the country through his maternal grandmother and received his first call-up for this round of fixtures.

Greece face Northern Ireland at Windsor Park (7.45pm) in League C, Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League, so Baldock could face two fellow former United loanees.

Cardiff City’s Gavin Whyte and Ciaron Brown spent time at the U’s last season and have played regularly under manager Ian Baraclough.
