James Martin Is Quitting Saturday Kitchen

Our normal Saturday morning routine is about to be completely changed - and we don’t mean we’re going to start getting out of bed an hour earlier.

Instead, James Martin, the presenter of essential weekend viewing Saturday Kitchen, has announced that he’s stepping down from the role after ten years at the helm.

James has been the host of the show since 2006, taking over from Antony Worrall Thompson. Gregg Wallace was the first to host the show when it began in 2002.

Saturday mornings will never be the same.

Announcing the news in a statement, he thanked viewers for all their support and admitted he was looking forward to loads of lie-ins.

He said: “I would like to personally thank all the viewers for turning Saturday Kitchen into a three million-plus smash hit. I could not have done it without them.

“I would also like to thank the BBC and Saturday Kitchen for the great opportunity they gave me.

“It has been an amazing journey and I have been privileged to work with some of the world’s greatest chefs and some of the greatest names in showbiz. I wish the new chefs every success.

“I am looking forward to getting stuck into my new projects and to lots of lie-ins on a Saturday morning.”
