Not everyone is lucky enough to meet the Queen but celebrity chef James Martin has had the honour of lunching with Her Majesty and while he says it was a "pinch-yourself moment", it also came with a big regret.

Speaking in an interview with Hello! James revealed all about the day at Buckingham Palace.

"There was only eight of us for lunch; it was magical," he said.

"I have total respect for the Queen and the royal family," he added. "The only thing I regret is that my grandmother wasn't alive to witness it because she was a huge fan."

James explained that he thought he was going to the Palace for a garden party with hundreds of people attending: "When I got there the corgis walked in and in came her Majesty, and sat opposite me. It's one of those pinch-yourself moments you'll never forget for the rest of your life."

He said that he and the Queen chatted about the dogs and life, adding that the Queen was "very polite".

The chef continued: "You don't remember what you said because you were so nervous – you can't believe you're having a one on one conversation with the Queen for 45 minutes."

Want to hear more about James' lunch with the Queen? The celebrity chef will be joining Prima on an exclusive trip to Bordeaux in March 2021, where there'll be a cooking demonstration, a Q&A session and gala dinner cooked by the man himself.
