James McAvoy has upped the excitement levels surrounding the upcoming IT: Chapter Two by sharing several snaps of the adult cast.

What's more, some of the photos also feature the young cast members from the first film, suggesting that there may even be some crossover between the younger and older versions of the characters.

McAvoy posted a photo of five different polaroids to his Instagram feed, each featuring members of the cast on set.

He captioned the exciting photos(s) simply with: "Snapped IT. #itmovie #thedisapearanceofthemoviesweshot #itmovie".

All of the Losers Club kids who featured in last year's IT will be replaced by adult versions in the sequel, with McAvoy taking over the role of leader Bill Denbrough from Jaeden Lieberher.

The new cast also includes James Ransone (Eddie Kaspbrak), Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), Bill Hader (Richie Tozier), Andy Bean (Stan Uris), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ben Hanscom) and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon).

It has been confirmed that flashbacks will show the young cast again too.

IT, based on the terrifying novel by Stephen King, focuses on a group of children living in Derry who are being terrorised and killed by a malevolent clown (played by an immensely creepy Bill Skarsgard).

The next chapter of the story will focus on the second half of the novel, which sees the adult versions of the characters returning home to face the horror all over again.

The first film was very well received, so the second instalment is bound to perform at the box office - if it's not too terrifying for viewers, of course.

It: Chapter 2 will arrive in cinemas on September 6, 2019, while It: Chapter One is out now on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and digital download.
