Jane the Virgin's upcoming spin-off series has added a slew of new cast members, including a star of the original show.

Jane the Novela will be an anthology series that is based on a story 'written by' Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) from the main show.

And to add a bit of continuity, the new show has signed up Ivonne Coll from Jane the Virgin, who plays the role of Jane's grandmother Alba Villaneuva, according to Deadline.

On top of that, Remy Hii (Marco Polo), Benito Martinez (The Shield) and Holland Roden (Teen Wolf) have also signed on to the spin-off, while Hunter Parrish (17 Again) was confirmed as the show's male co-lead earlier this month.

The first season of the show will be set in the Napa Valley and focus on Estela (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), an art curator who has spent years playing it safe, until she discovers a shocking secret that changes everything and forces her to live a double life.

In the series, Estela has a dependable boyfriend, Luen (Hii), and he'll stop at nothing to win her love back after their relationship is threatened by Felix (Parrish), a wealthy man who co-owns a vineyard with his mother Renata (Marcia Cross).

Coll plays the role of Estela's adoptive mother Camila, who will also stop at nothing to protect her daughter.

Martinez, meanwhile, will play the role of Raul, the winery's enigmatic riddler, and Roden takes on the part of Sienna, Felix's sister who is determined to save the world.

The show will also be narrated by Rodriguez as Jane, and the actress recently praised the show itself as "fantastic".

Jane the Virgin's fifth and final season is set to premiere on The CW in the US on Wednesday, March 27. Netflix airs the show in the UK.
