Jane the Virgin's Gina Rodriguez faces backlash for singing N-word
Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez has faced a backlash after a video of her singing the N-word went live on social media.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday (October 15), Rodriguez shared a video of herself getting her make-up done where she could be seen singing to Lauryn Hill's verse of The Fugees' 'Ready or Not'.
The lyrics included the N-word and Rodriguez's post sparked a controversial reaction from her followers.
Earlier this year, the actress broke down in tears during a live interview after facing another backlash over racially-tinged comments she made to Net-a-Porter about the ethnic pay disparity in Hollywood.
In response to her Instagram Story shared on Tuesday, one person wrote: "Just can't get over how Gina Rodriguez has a whole video of her crying because people were accusing her of being anti black and now she's come out and said the n word..what's wrong with that girl."
Someone else wrote: "Gina Rodriguez really cried during an interview when being called out racist but then says the n word in her ig story without any hesitation."

Shortly after the fallout, Rodriguez deleted the video and has now taken to her Instagram Story to make an official apology.
"Hey, what's up everybody. I just wanted to reach out and apologise," she said. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry if I offended anyone by singing along to The Fugees, to a song I love that I grew up on. I love Lauryn Hill, and I am really sorry if I offended you."
