Strictly star Bill Bailey has found a very famous fan in Janet Jackson.

The US singer showed off her approval of the comedian and professional Oti Mabuse’s latest dance, which appeared to take inspiration from her 1989 single Alright, by sharing footage of the routine.

Last weekend on the BBC show, the pair danced to Rapper’s Delight by The Sugarhill Gang for their Couple’s Choice.

Jackson posted their Street/Commercial dance to Twitter with the caption: “Nice! #GoinIN • @BillBailey @OtiMabuse @bbcstrictly.”

Bailey and Mabuse donned pinstripe suits and used a newspaper as a prop while kicking the routine off on a bench, just as Jackson does in the Alright video.

“@JanetJackson thank you @BillBailey you’re a star,” Mabuse tweeted in response to Jackson’s approval.

The South African dancer could be in for another win after lifting the Glitterball trophy last year with Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher.

Bailey is proving to be one to beat on the competition as he and Mabuse came in at joint second on Saturday’s leaderboard.

He's certainly got an admirer in Craig Revel Horwood, who has confessed to being "shocked" by him.

The judge said on Thursday's Lorraine: “To be honest I am secretly actually loving Bill Bailey. I adore him, he just shocks me. Everytime I see him dance, I am surprised, amazed and delighted. I never thought for one moment he would be able to do it.

"He doesn’t look like the type or the type of character… I love him, I would love to see him in the final. I think he is brilliant, the dark horse of the competition. I also think Maisie is fantastic as well… fantastic technique, great hip action.”

Bailey himself has admitted to being surprised that he can do the Strictly routines.
