Janet Jackson has confirmed her split from her husband just a few months after giving birth to her first child at 50.

The singer announced she and her husband Wissam Al Mana have decided to separate and the issue is being dealt with by the courts.

Baby Eissa Al Mana was born in January , four months after Jackson cancelled the second leg of her tour, which she now plans to resume.

"Hey you guys it's me Jane, just in case you don't recognise me because I've put on a few because of the pregnancy," she told her fans on a YouTube video on Monday.

"This message was supposed to be about something else but I want to keep it real with you guys for a second: Yes, I separated with my husband, we are in court and the rest is in God's hands," she added.

Jackson, younger sister of late king of pop Michael Jackson, married Al Mana, a Qatari business magnate whose company sells luxury fashion brands throughout Gulf Arab kingdoms, in 2012.

The singer has scheduled her return to the road on 7 September, 18 months after postponing her Unbreakable tour.

She didn't say where the performance will take place, but changed the tour's name to State of the World.

She also gave her fans an update on their son.

"I thank God from him. He's so healthy, so beautiful, so sweet, so loving," she said.

"Such a happy baby."
