Jansin Turgut: Rugby star in intensive care with 'serious head injuries' after fall from Ibiza car park

A well known rugby league player is in intensive care in Ibiza after falling from the third floor of a car park.

Former England Academy captain Jansin Turgut, 23, is said to have suffered “serious head injuries” after the plunge in the early hours of Monday morning.

The ex-Hull FC and Salford Red Devils forward was taken to Nuestra Senora del Rosario Clinic Hospital where he continues to be treated.

Turgut was released from Salford earlier this month following an internal investigation. The club said at the time that the incident was an "off-the-field" matter and his "conduct was unacceptable".

“The club are currently in contact with Jansin’s family, while further details are being established," the club said in a statement after his fall. “Salford Red Devils wish Jansin a full and speedy recovery and request that all supporters remain respectful of his family’s privacy at this difficult time.”

England Rugby League also tweeted: “Sending our best wishes to former England Academy captain Jansin Turgut who has suffered serious injuries after a fall in Ibiza.”

Hull-born Turgut left Hull FC last month and signed a short-term deal with Salford before later agreeing a longer contract.

Hull FC added in a post on Twitter: “Hull FC are saddened to learn of the news concerning former player Jansin Turgut. On behalf of the players, coaches and staff at the club, our thoughts are with Jansin and his family at this difficult time.”
