Japan’s Jtrrd cafe describes itself as a “food art gallery.” Tokoyo Creative called the cafe’s smoothies the most “visually pleasing” ever seen. Locals typically wait at least 30 minutes in line to get their hands on one of these Instagrammable beverages.
But that’s only the first speed bump to overcome in order to snag one of these bad boys — Jtrrd has no menu. That’s because the smoothie shop only uses the freshest available ingredients each day. Rather than picking out flavors, patrons pick from six colors. Then Jtrrd staff members stack ingredients like Greek yogurt, chia pudding, fruit slices and smoothie layers to create beautiful drinks.
If you can’t make it out to a city like Osaka or Fukuoka to wait in line, Jtrrd’s Instagram is happy to show you what you’ve been missing.
One image shows a cup with a yogurt layer, chia seeds and banana slices on the bottom. It’s topped with red smoothie and its surface has a gorgeous lime green and purple flower on top.
A more intricate drink has the same signature Greek yogurt and chia base. The smoothie is stacked with a purple liquid, while banana slices line the circumference of the container. The mouthwatering drink is adorned with an opulent pattern on top. It features two purple lines with green dots, crossing through the center. In each quadrant created by the lines, there are gorgeous green and red flower petals outlined in white.
It’s hard to believe that anyone could stand to drink something so pretty but Jtrrd’s smoothies look like they taste pretty good too.
