United are reportedly still interested in signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The Reds had two bids rejected for the Toffees centre-back during the summer transfer window, with the last worth up to £50million including add-ons.
According to HITC, United remain determined to try and sign Branthwaite and will make a fresh attempt to bring the defender to Old Trafford in the New Year. This is despite United already signing Leny Yoro and Matthis de Ligt to strengthen the centre-back position in the squad.
It has been claimed that United sporting director Dan Ashworth is leading the quest to sign Branthwaite in the New Year.
Elsewhere, United are reportedly looking to award new contracts to Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo. According to Sky Sports, the Reds are getting ready to discuss extending the contracts of both Mainoo and Diallo to reward them for their impact on the team.
Mainoo's current deal runs until 2027, with United having the option to extend it by a further year. It has been reported that United are determined to agree a new deal for Mainoo despite the possibility of four years remaining on his current contract.
Amad's contract expires at the end of the season, with United again having the option of a further 12 months. It has been claimed that both the player and the club want to agree a new contract to extend the forward's terms at Old Trafford.
