As you'd expect with a cult favourite franchise, Star Trek: Discovery has a TON of fan theories, ranging from the understandable to the really out there.

The big theory, which is only gaining more traction over the mid-season break, is the one that Ash Tyler is actually the Klingon Voq turned into a human.

The 'why' or 'how' or the 'whether Voq's psyche still exists' ideas vary based on person to person, but 'Ash is a Klingon' in its most basic is such a popular theory, the cast are totally aware of it.

"I love all the theories, we all love them!" said Jason Isaacs, who plays Captain Lorca, in an interview with GamesRadar+.

"I mean, there's some really bonkers stuff out there! Some people have got bits right, no-one's got the whole thing right.

"There's stuff about me as well, people think I'm a Klingon or a Romulan... lot of stuff about why I want Michael to be serving on the ship, or why I want Tyler to be serving on the ship.

"More power to them, people should continue to come up with these theories. Some people will feel really smug at the end of it, some people will feel really stupid at the end of it."

Shazad Latif, who plays Ash Tyler, has also spoken about the theory, and said that Trekkies are "great detectives".

Star Trek: Discovery will return on CBS in the US and Netflix in the UK in January.
