Yahoo News Jason Momoa lands new DC role after Aquaman
Jason Momoa has landed a new DC role after starring as Aquaman.
The actor has signed on to play anti-hero Lobo in the franchise's upcoming Supergirl movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
The blockbuster, which stars House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock as the eponymous hero, is set to be the second film in James Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted DC Universe, following Superman.
Momoa confirmed his casting on Instagram on Monday (December 30), sharing a a quote from an interview with Fandango, where he discussed his love for the character of Lobo.

"So Lobo was... I collect comics, and I don't do so much anymore, but he was always my favourite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I'm like, 'Hello? It's the perfect role'," the quote read.
"I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it's a f*** yeah. I haven't received that call, so I don't want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I'm there."
After landing the role, Momoa aptly captioned the post: "They called."
Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo is an alien from the utopian planet of Czarnia, who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.

He is known for his violent and irreverent personality, possessing superhuman strength, regenerative abilities and an invulnerability that make him a formidable opponent.
Production on Supergirl is set to begin next month, ahead of the film's cinematic release on June 26, 2026.
Gunn previously explained that the film will follow Kara Zor-El (aka Supergirl) as she wreaks vengeance on planet-destroying aliens.

"Superman is a guy sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, where Supergirl in this story, she is a character raised on a chunk of Krypton," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"She watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way, so she's a much more jaded character."
Cruella's Craig Gillespie is directing the film, which also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as antagonist Krem and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll.
The Vampire Diaries star Ana Nogueira has penned the screenplay from the series of DC comics by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2026.
