Jay-Z Shot a Music Video at This L.A. Home in 2000. Now It Can Be Yours for $9 Million.

Rapper turned billionaire music mogul Jay-Z dropped the video for I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me) in 2000. The iconic track was the first single from his album The Dynasty: Roc La Familia and features flashy lyrics co-written by Pharrell Williams. Visuals for the song, in which the rapper disturbs neighbors by playing loud music, play out in a Los Angeles residence designed by architect David Hertz. The striking abode in the posh Bel Air neighborhood can now be yours for $8.9 million.

Set back on Stradella Road and built with using an array of sustainable elements, the gated residence was built in 1998 and overlooks the Stone Canyon reservoir. Jay-Z and other stars like Jermaine Dupri were filmed in different parts of the almost 6,800-square-foot home for the music video, giving fans a glimpse into its five-bedroom, six-bath layout. Steven Kirshbaum of The Agency holds the listing.

Among the home’s most distinctive details are its open-plan layout that emanates from a large, curved wall that makes a single arc from the front to rear; a linear skylight that spans the length of the house, pouring light down on art-friendly walls and a glass-enclosed stairwell; and a central tower that houses a mesh-encased. Throughout the home are a mix of wood and concrete floors alongside wood-beamed ceilings and a total of four fireplaces. It factors in sustainable features, too, like a solar chimney, heat mirror glazing, and solar radiant heating.

The home’s free-flowing living spaces, which orbit around a trio of illuminated columns next to a sculpted wood wet bar, include a double-height living area, a dining space, and a skylight-capped kitchen with glossy black counters set against a shimmering stainless-steel backsplash behind the stovetop. Other key areas found on the main level include an office/library, a wine room, two ensuite bedrooms, and a laundry room.

The expansive primary bedroom is on the upper floor and includes a curvilinear deck with breathtaking landscape vistas. There’s also a sitting area with a bar and dumbwaiter to the kitchen downstairs, as well as an en suite bath that’s replete with a poured concrete soaking tub and a steam room. The home’s fourth bedroom, also on the upper level, can be made into two due to its excess space.

The main floor spills out to a panoramic-view backyard. Quiet relaxing and entertaining are both a breeze thanks to a built-in bar and barbecue area, a covered dining terrace, and a tree-shaded patio with a firepit that overlooks the reservoir. A Zen-like pool and spa are featured nearby among a manicured landscape that includes lush grass, flagstone terracing, and a specimen bonsai tree.

Having exceptional taste in accommodations, Jay-Z also featured this massive penthouse in New York City in his “Blue Magic” music video from 2007.
