Jeff Glor Departing CBS News as Paramount Layoffs Hit Division
Paramount’s latest round of layoffs has impacted CBS News, with anchor Jeff Glor among those leaving the network.
Glor, who co-hosts CBS Saturday Morning and is a special correspondent, was one of a number of people laid off as CBS’ parent company made a second round of cuts Tuesday. Paramount is looking to save some $500 million and plans to lay off 15 percent of its U.S.-based employees. Tuesday’s layoffs were the second round, following a first wave of job cuts in mid-August. The company is headed toward a merger with Skydance, which is likely to be finalized sometime next year.

CBS News declined to comment.
“Like the entire Media industry, we are working to accelerate streaming profitability while at the same time adjusting to the evolving landscape in our traditional businesses,” Paramount co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins wrote in a memo to employees early Tuesday. “In order to set Paramount up for continued success, we are taking these actions, and after today, 90 percent of these reductions will be complete.”
Glor joined CBS News in 2007 as a correspondent, filing reports from around the world. He was the lead anchor on CBSN, the network’s news streaming service, at its launch and also anchored weekend editions of the CBS Evening News from 2009-10 (Saturdays) and 2012-16 (Sundays).
In 2017, Glor became the anchor of the flagship CBS Evening News, a post he held for two years. He transitioned to Saturday Morning in 2019, co-hosting with Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson. Glor has also been a correspondent for 60 Minutes Sports and CBS This Morning and anchored the weekday-morning program The Early Show in 2011.
Puck’s social media accounts first reported Glor’s departure.
