Jeff Stelling pulls out of show and Middlesbrough Christmas light switch on due to illness

Sports presenter and famous Hartlepudlian Jeff Stelling has pulled out of tonight's Middlesbrough events due to illness.

An evening with Jeff Stelling was due to take place at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Thursday night but has been cancelled due to the star falling ill. The team has apologised for any inconvenience and said the show will be rearranged for next month.

A new statement says tickets will be automatically transferred to the new date, it reads: "Unfortunately due to illness, Jeff had to make the hard decision to cancel what should have been his last tour date of 2024 in Middlesbrough on Thursday 28th November. However, the show has been rearranged for next month on Thursday 12th December, so tickets will be automatically transferred to this date.

"Jeff and team apologise for the postponement and hope to see everyone next month in Middlesbrough for the last date of 2024. "

The show sees the star share anecdotes from his career that saw him rise to fame as the recognisable face of Sky Sports Soccer Saturday and behind the scenes stories. Jeff joined Sky Sports Soccer Saturday in 1994 and has presented almost every episode and worked with some legendary football stars from George Best, David Beckham, Roy Keane, and many more.

Posting on X, Jeff confirmed the news, he said: "I am unwell at the moment so sadly will not be appearing in Middlesbrough tonight. There will be a re-arranged date. Apologies to anyone this affects."

The presenter was also due to switch on Middlesbrough's Christmas Lights which will now be done by The Snow White panto cast and Santa Claus.
