Jefte seals Rangers transfer as Brazilian left-back pens long-term Ibrox deal

Jefte has completed his long-awaited transfer to Rangers as he joins the Ibrox side on a four-year deal.

The Brazilian left-back was a target in January but a deal couldn't be struck as his loan to APOEL Nicosia complicating matters. But the 20-year-old never moved from Philippe Clement's sights and an agreement, thought to be worth an initial £2m plus future add-ons, was reached for a summer move.

And Jefte will officially join Gers once his loan move to APOEL expires on June 1. He becomes the first signing of the summer with centre-back Jose Cordoba expected to follow. He said: “I am incredibly excited to join Rangers, this is a fantastic opportunity for me to take my career to the next level with such a historic and successful club. I am already looking forward to meeting my new teammates, working with the coaching staff, and continuing to learn and develop my game as a Rangers player.”

Manager Clement added: “Jefté is an exciting young defender, and I am delighted that he has joined our squad so early in the summer period. He has already shown he is a player of great quality and potential and I am confident he can play a big part in our squad moving forward - I look forward to working with him in the months to come.”
