Dewan opened up about the breakdown of her marriage to Tatum in her book Gracefully You: Finding Beauty and Balance in the Everyday.

She revealed: "I’d come to realise the dynamic I was in wasn’t serving me nor was it serving my daughter. First and foremost I had to accept the realisation this isn’t working and had moved into hurting.”

And she admitted she had felt pressure from her relationship being played out in the spotlight

Dewan confessed: “The public saw Channing and me in this idealised, romanticised light… Let me tell you firsthand, when it comes to the lives of celebrities, a picture never tells the whole story. Everyone struggles. Every couple has their issues, celebrity or not.”
