Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt fulfilled the dreams of fans across the world when they reunited at last night’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

The actors, both of whom won accolades during the awards ceremony, were pictured embracing backstage at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, seemingly overjoyed to have run into one another.

The pair were previously one of the most publicised couples in Hollywood, having married in 2000 before divorcing five years later.

During the Golden Globes, which took place earlier this month, Pitt told ET that he would welcome a reunion with his former spouse during awards season, stating: “I’ll run into Jen, she’s a good friend.”

Fortunately, it only took a couple of weeks for the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor’s wish to become a reality, sparking joy across social media.

“This is the most purest and most genuine interaction between celebrities I’ve ever seen. Brad and Jen,” one person tweeted.

“I don’t want to freak out about the Brad and Jen stuff at the SAG Awards, but I can’t help myself,” another wrote.

In addition to their highly-anticipated reunion, the pair were also pictured during the evening’s proceedings watching one another win their respective awards.

Aniston won the prize for Female Actor in a Drama Series for her performance in The Morning Show, while Pitt received the award for Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

This marks the first individual SAG Award Aniston has received, having won the prize for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series alongside the cast of Friends in 1996.

Pitt’s only other SAG Award win was also for an ensemble performance, in 2010 for the cast of Inglourious Basterds.

During last night’s awards ceremony, Pitt joked about his marriages to Aniston and Angelina Jolie while delivering his awards acceptance speech.

Speaking about identifying with his character in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the 56-year-old said: “Let’s be honest; [Cliff Booth] was a difficult part: a guy who gets high, takes his shirt off and doesn’t get on with his wife. It was a big stretch.”
