Jennifer Aniston says she could not escape Rachel from 'Friends’

Jennifer Aniston has told how she struggled to escape her Friends character Rachel Green following the huge success of the comedy.

The actress, 51, found fame playing the much-loved character from 1994 to 2004 and revealed she had a hard time shaking her.

“I could not get Rachel Green off of my back for the life of me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I could not escape ‘Rachel from Friends’, and it's on all the time and you're like, ‘Stop playing that f****** show!’”

Aniston was cast in comedy drama film The Good Girl in 2002 and said it was the first time she got to “really shed” the character of the Central Perk barista who made her famous.

She admitted that was something of a “relief”.

However, the star confessed she felt a little panicked and questioned whether she could do it.

Referring to Rachel’s apartment, she said she feared she was “only that girl in the New York apartment with the purple walls”.

Aniston is set to return to her best known character in a long awaited Friends reunion.

The special on the HBO Max streaming service will see her reunited with her former castmates Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Mathew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc.

However, the reunion has been delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
