Jennifer Aniston has revealed which of her former Friends co-stars are preventing a revival from taking place.

Speaking on The Late, Late Show, the actress told host James Corden that her male cast mates Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry aren't keen on revisiting their iconic characters from the 90s show, despite considerable public demand.

“Listen, the girls always say we would love to do it again, and the boys are a little less excited about it for some reason – I don’t know,” Aniston said.

“And so, we’ve decided that we’ll just do… a remake of The Golden Girls in 40 years.”

The actress, who is currently promoting her Netflix movie Dumplin’, also told Corden she was unaware of the reported $100 million (£79 million) deal made by the streaming service to retain rights for the show next year.

“I didn’t know that it was even supposed to be taken away. So this is all news to me,” she said.

Aniston has previously shut down multiple rumours of a Friends reunion, but the star seems to have warmed to the idea in recent months.

“Before that show ended, people were asking if we were coming back. Courteney [Cox] and Lisa [Kudrow] and I talk about it,” she told InStyle back in October. “I fantasise about it.

“It really was the greatest job I ever had. I don’t know what it would look like today, but you never know. So many shows are being successfully rebooted. I know Matt LeBlanc doesn’t want to be asked that question any more. But maybe we could talk him into it.”

Friends ran from 1994 to 2004 and followed six friends in their 20s and 30s living in Manhattan, New York City.
