Glamorous events took place on both sides of the Atlantic last night as stars flocked to the 2019 Fashion Awards in London while others including Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman, Julia Stiles and more attended the Gotham Awards in New York.
This year's awards were held at Cipriani Wall Street and the night saw a number of high profile celebrity reunions with the cast of Hustlers, Booksmart and SNL alumni coming together.
Jennifer Lopez was one of the most photographed women of the night and attended with her fiance Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez.
The star wore a feathered one shouldered-dress with dangling sculptural earrings for the occasion, complete with her signature smoky eye and nude glossy lip make-up look.
The star, who has been tipped for an Oscar nomination for her role in Hustlers, reunited with the cast of the film on the night.
She joined Julia Stiles, Constance Wu and Lili Reinhart at their table for a quick picture, though fellow co-star Keke Palmer (who was also there) missed out on the photo opp.
She was again seen with her fiance watching the likes of Awkwafina, Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us and Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story scoop awards.
Lopez also presented an award - best actor to Adam Driver for his role in Marriage Story. The pair smiled for a celebratory portrait backstage, with the Star Wars actor dressed in a dapper black suit and tie.
Uma Thurman also hit the awards in a more laid back outfit, wearing a pair of leather trousers, a warm coat and turtleneck.
She was later seen with designer Zac Posen, whose namesake fashion house recently announced it was closing.
Stiles attended in a sleek dress, which appeared to be a riff on a tuxedo. The top half was designed to look like a men’s blazer complete with satin lapels but flowed into a long skirt.
Comedian Will Ferrell attended with his former assistant Jessica Elbaum, now president of Gloria Sanchez Productions (the company which produced Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart).
Olivia Wilde was a vision in white on the night - wearing a trailing tulle dress with delicate lace details.
She was joined by her husband, Angry Birds actor Jason Sudeikis, who wore a three piece suit.
Sudeikis and Ferrell, who are both former members of Saturday Night Live, were photographed later that night having an animated conversation.
Former SNL cast member Adam Sandler was also there.
Jurassic Park star Laura Dern was one of the most underrated style icons of the night, wearing a unique dress which featured clashing graphic prints.
She and Little Women director Greta Gerwig were spotted laughing as they posed for a celebratory picture together.
The Handmaid’s Tale actress Elisabeth Moss was one of the many stars to opt for a slinky black dress, wearing a piece with accentuated power shoulders and a deep v neckline.
Hustlers star Keke Palmer wore one of the more unusual dresses on the night, a black feathered gown that trailed along the ground behind her.
Awkwafina, who won Best Actress for her role in The Farewell, looked every inch a winner in her elaborately detailed cream gown.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri star Sam Rockwell’s suit was certainly a divisive one - toeing the line between bold fashion statement and man who tripped over a can of silver paint.
Looking both parts delighted and terrified, he and Seinfeld star Yul Vazquez shared a tender moment backstage.
Spider-Man star Willem Dafoe was also seen at the Gotham awards, choosing a navy suit for the event.
Netflix was well represented on the night, as a few of the streaming platform’s biggest stars were there including Russian Doll's Natasha Lyonne. Wearing a long black gown with a pussybow detail, Lyonne flashed her bright red nails as she posed for cameras.
OG cool girl Chloe Sevigny arrived in a tan dress with on trend puffer sleeves, complete with matchy-matchy white boots and a handbag.
Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart looked a million miles away from her role as girl next door Betty Cooper, glamming up for the event in a mini dress with a sparkling collar and bowtie.
Booksmart’s main stars Molly Gordon and Beanie Feldstein were reunited on the carpet, wearing dresses that we could certainly believe their onscreen characters would choose.
One of the best dressed men on the night was undoubtedly playwright Jeremy O. Harris, whose patchwork suit and lace shirt made for an unusual combination.
Other stars to attend included Renee Elise Goldberry, model Agyness Deyn, Aisha Tyler and director Ava DuVernay.
