Jennifer Lopez postpones Las Vegas concerts 'out of respect' for shooting victims

Jennifer Lopez has postponed three of her Las Vegas concerts after 59 people were killed and 527 were injured in a mass shooting on Sunday night.

Gunman Stephen Paddock attacked Route 91 Harvest country music festival concertgoers from his room at the Mandalay Bay hotel during Jason Aldean’s headline set.

Jennifer has a residency at the Axis Theater inside the nearby Planet Hollywood, and last night she announced that she will be taking time away from the stage “out of respect” for the victims.

A statement from the star read: “Out of respect to victims and families of the tragedy in Las Vegas, Jennifer Lopez will be postponing the ‘JENNIFER LOPEZ: ALL I HAVE’ performances planned for Wednesday, Oct. 4, Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday Oct. 7 inside The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

“Jennifer is heartbroken that such a senseless tragedy occurred. Her thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

“Jennifer Lopez and Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino apologize for any inconvenience this causes ticket holders.”

The 48-year-old singer had previously marked the attack on social media, sharing an image paying tribute to Las Vegas alongside the caption: “I [heart] Las Vegas… Feeling so broken this morning” on Monday [2 October].

The star kickstarted her Vegas residency in January 2016 and it is due to continue until at least 2019.

Other celebs to enjoy residencies in the bustling city include Britney Spears, and Mariah Carey, who was subjected to a bizarre interview on Good Morning Britain following Sunday night’s attack.

GMB host Piers Morgan was slammed for “blindsiding” the singer as she appeared on the show via videolink to promote her new Christmas show, only to be grilled on her thoughts on the shooting – which was breaking news at the time.

The mum-of-two was visibly shocked by the news, saying: “This is horrible and I pray for the victims and I hope that all this can stop as soon as possible.

“I spent a lot of time in Vegas and this type of thing happening anywhere is a huge tragedy and I hope we have an end to this as soon as possible.

“It’s terrible because people are just going out to listen to music and they’re out for the night and then something shocking like this could happen… it’s wrong, I just don’t know what to say.”
