Jeremy Renner turned 52 yesterday (Saturday January 7), and marked the occasion while still in hospital after his traumatic New Year's Day snow plough incident.

The actor seemed determined to maintain high spirits despite the circumstances, sending out love in response to a birthday message on Instagram.

The Base Chicago dedicated a birthday clip to Renner, who seemed incredibly thankful for their thoughts.

In the clip, students of The Base are seen dancing to 50 Cent's famous lyrics "Go, shorty, it's your birthday, we gon' party like it's your birthday," while holding up signs spelling out "J RENNER"

The group captioned their image "Sending a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🍰🎉🎁🎈🎈🎈🎈❤️ to @jeremyrenner. Have a great day 😊🙏🏽👍🏽 Sending our ❤️ #thebaseway💪🙌⚾️📚🙏🏽❤️"

According to The Base's website, the organisation "re-imagines pathways to success for urban youth by combining sports and academic opportunities with a distinctive methodology rooted in excellence, belief and love."

And, it seems Renner is closely involved with the important project, appearing in photos wearing the group's merch on Instagram, alongside other celebrities such as Michael B Jordan.

Considering his support for the youth programme, Renner was evidently touched by their message, responding in a comment on the post "I love you all sooooo much !!!! Thank you 🙏. You’ve made my spirits sing!!!!"

This isn't the only outpouring of support for the actor, who was taken to hospital in critical condition before undergoing surgery on January 1. His Marvel co-star Mark Ruffalo encouraged sending healing prayers to Renner for a speedy recovery, and his mother and sister recently lifted his spirits by treating him to an "ICU spa moment."

Happy birthday to Jeremy, and fingers crossed he'll recuperate quickly.

Rennervations will air on Disney+ in early 2023. Hawkeye is available to stream on the same service, while Mayor of Kingstown season 2 will premiere on January 15 on Paramount+.
