Jermaine Jenas forced to host Talk Sport show at same time BBC sacking confirmed
Jermaine Jenas told listeners he'd been 'chucked in the hot seat' late on Thursday afternoon, as he was forced to host a show for Talk Sport, just minutes after news broke that he'd been sacked from the BBC for 'inappropriate behaviour.'
Having played in the Premier League for several clubs, including Spurs and Newcastle, as well as earning caps for England, midfielder Jermaine announced his retirement in 2016, after failing to recover from a painful knee injury. Since then he's swapped the football pitch for the TV studio, being a football pundit for the BBC at major tournaments, as well as being a regular on Match of the Day and one of the main presenters of The One Show.
And, right after Euro 2024 came to an end, Jermaine was being talked up as the favourite to eventually get Gary Lineker's job as main host of the Saturday night highlights show, a turn of events that now looks to be very much dead in the water, with the news that the 41-year-old had been sacked by the BBC with immediate effect.

As well as a BBC spokesperson confirming that Jermaine, who was also rumoured to be doing Strictly this year, was 'no longer on the presenting line-up,' it's being reported that complaints were made about his 'inappropriate behaviour,' prompting an immediate internal investigation by the broadcaster.
Jermaine hasn't been seen on The One Show since the end of July, but has been recruited by Talk Sport, with him taking to the air for Thursday's drive time broadcast, alongside fellow ex Premiership star Jermaine Pennant, just as word spread about his sacking.
Right at the start of the show, Jermaine told everyone listening he was in "the hot seat" and it didn't take long for social media to react. Addressing the timing of it all, one X user wrote: "The BBC announced Jermaine Jenas’ sacking while he was live on Talk Sport talking about the odds of Erik ten Hag getting sacked. That is poetic," as a second posted: "Jermaine Jenas sacked by the BBC for “inappropriate behaviour” but is currently live on Talk Sport presenting ‘Drive Live"
